Birds in Paradise
Dad loved to craft out of wood. He made banks, baby grand pianos, birds etc. He worked at Douglas Aircraft and would bring home all the scrapes of the many hard woods. He was a true maker/artist. It was heartbreaking when dad passed away in 1969. As a young girl, picking up the pieces became a journey. One day, one memory at a time. Dad made a collection of birds and I have two of them. He loved making them and gifting them to family members.. I photographed his birds on the balcony railing of our condo over looking the San Francisco Bay. I added the palm trees to remind me of the love both mom and dad had for Hawaii. I know dad would be pleased with our collaboration.
